My Core Recipe for Any Flavor Quiche
A base recipe and list of flavor ideas for unlimited quiche creations
Ingredients
2 cups of vegetables and/or meats of your choosing (more on that below)
1 cup of shredded cheese of your choosing
4 eggs*
1 cup of milk or cream
Salt and pepper (about a teaspoon of salt and a pinch of pepper)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375.
Roll out your pie crust and lay it over your pie pan. Trim the edges of the crust with kitchen scissors. Crimp the edges by gently bending them into a wave pattern with the tips of your fingers. If you have trouble with that, you can also use a fork to gently press the edges down against the pan.
Chill your prepared crust. Many choose to blind bake their crusts for quiche (when you line the empty crust with parchment paper, fill it with dry beans to weigh it down, and partially prebake it), but I personally do not usually do this.
Prepare your meats and vegetables; Pre cook meats and tougher vegetables (potatoes, broccoli, etc.), and chop everything into bite sized pieces.
Shred your cheese.
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
Assemble your quiche: Layer your chosen filling and shredded cheese in the prepared crust. Pour the egg mixture over it.
Bake the quiche for 30-45 minutes, checking occasionally after 30 minutes. The edges of the crust should be golden brown, and the top of the quiche should look puffy with some golden brown spots.
Cool the quiche completely before serving.
Enjoy and be nourished!
Notes
*You may need to use more eggs in your egg mixture, depending on the volume of meat, cheese, and vegetables you add to your quiche.
There is no end to the nourishing possibilities of quiche! With a foundation of nutrient dense eggs and dairy, quiche at its most basic boasts much in the way of fat-soluble vitamins, nourishing fat, protein, and minerals. And when you add your meats and vegetables of choice, you are only adding to the benefits!
Quiche can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week, or in the freezer for a month or so. To freeze, wrap it well in plastic wrap and put it in a container that seals.
